(failure) 4. - 6. September 2020
The board of the Hanseverein Schwerte e. V. decided with a heavy heart to cancel the Pannekaukenfest on the 1st weekend in September. Because major events are forbidden at least until August 31, 2020 and it is not yet foreseeable whether festivals and sporting events can take place again from September, after weighing up all the arguments and facts, it was decided this year not to hold the largest and popular Schwerter festival.
This also happens as a sign of solidarity with the other sword organizers from the area of culture who have already canceled or will do so.
Unfortunately there is no view into the crystal ball and Covid 19 is certainly not simply over on a set date. The health of the Schwerter population is extremely important to the board members and everyone is aware of the responsibility for the safety of the participants and guests.
Because the Pannekaukenfest is planned, organized and carried out on a voluntary basis without public subsidies, the financial risk is extremely high. In the planning phase, the Hansa Club incurs costs that are amortized over the festival.
Our artists and musicians this year and their performance will be taken into account in the planning of the Pannekaukenfest on September 2, 2021. We promise this from many years of solidarity. The dealings were always fair and accommodating, which is not a matter of course and therefore this is done out of appreciation.
At this point we would like to thank all artists, collaborators, associations, neighboring classes, stand operators and above all our generous sponsors for their support in the past years. Without them the Pannekaukenfest would not be possible in the known way.
So we use this year's compulsory break for a reunion at the PKF from September 10th to 12th, 2021.
It would be nice for us if the sponsors stayed with us, of course we know about the economic difficulties that Corona has caused. We wish you all the best and stay or get well.
